As part of the city’s Easter programme, the Church of San Ginés is hosting the eighteenth edition of this classic series of organ concerts that each year focuses on different composers and eras, textures and sounds of the organ, the ultimate symphonic instrument. This year, there will be three recitals taking place on 4, 11 and 14 April.
The Easter programme organised by Madrid City Council traditionally begins with the celebration of Organ Music at San Ginés. This year’s concerts come under the title “The variety of musical styles on the organ”.
The first concert scheduled for 4 April will be performed by English organist Thomas Trotter, from the city of Birmingham, with a programme that includes pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, John Stanley, Gustav Holst and Percy Whitlock
The second recital will be led by Carlos Paterson, professor at the International University of Valencia (VIU) and Organ Professor at the Conservatory of Valencia. At this concert, you can enjoy compositions by Joseph Ximénez, Luis de Narváez, Emanuel Narvajas and Carlos Paterson, among others.
The programme comes to an end on Monday 14 April with a recital featuring international concert musician Konstantin Volostnov and a selection of pieces by great composers such as César Franck, Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Liszt.
