From 3 to 27 September, the Complutense Art Centre (C Arte C) is putting on a collective exhibition titled Ways of Seeing , which brings together projects by 50 artists exploring identity, memory and the image in the contemporary world. The exhibition is part of the photography festival PHotoESPAÑA 2026.
The exhibition brings together the final projects of 50 contemporary visual artists, developed through personal and formal research processes, in which the works explore how identity, memory and a sense of belonging are constructed today in a context of constant transformation.
Moving between the appropriated archive and the portrait, the landscape and the ritual, or data and matter, the artists activate the image as a space for negotiation between the personal and the political, moving away from fixed certainties to propose ways of inhabiting the present. The projects presented in the exhibition view photography not merely as an aesthetic outcome, but as a fundamental form of experimentation and an indispensable tool for thinking about and reflecting on oneself within the complex contemporary world.
