Centro Danza Matadero - CDM (Nave 11) will host Olvidadas (a Las Sinsombrero), on 27 and 28 March 2026, the latest show by the flamenco dancer and choreographer, Mercedes de Córdoba, one of the most powerful and inspired figures on today’s flamenco scene. This production won the Lorca Prize 2025 for the Best Spanish/Flamenco Show.
In this project, Mercedes de Córdoba vindicates the memory of the female artists and intellectuals of the Generation of 1927, known as Las Sinsombrero (Women without hats), whose contribution was unjustly relegated to oblivion. The artist brings back their legacy through the language of flamenco and turns it into movement, emotion and stage presence.
With contemporary staging and a cast of exceptional musicians, Olvidadas is a poetic journey through female creativity, the struggle for freedom and the transformative power of art. The show combines singing, guitar playing and dancing with visual projections and a symbolic narrative that connects the past and the present.
Mercedes de Córdoba, winner of the National Flamenco Prize, has developed a solid career marked by her impeccable technique, her magnetic presence and her ability to combine tradition and the avant-garde. Olvidadas confirms her commitment to flamenco that engages with history and contemporary thought.
