The Italian singer and songwriter’s unmistakeable, deep voice will fill the Teatro Capitol on 10 March 2026, where he will present the songs from his latest album, Crooning Undercover, as part of the Summum Concert Series. His warm, deep voice is reminiscent of the great performers of soul and blues.
Originally from Catania, Italy and son of the singer Stefano Biondi, Mario Biondi started out in the music world at an early age, singing in several youth choirs and in the church choir. Over time, his talented musical skills took him to work with leading composers, such as Ray Charles, and to accompany Franco Califano, Peppino Di Capri, Fred Bongusto and Rosario Fiorello on their concert tours.
In 2006, he achieved success with his first album, Handful of Soul, which was followed in 2007 by a double album, which included live material recorded at the Teatro Smeraldo in Milan, I Love You More LIVE. It can be highlighted that he worked with the Walt Disney Company in 2008, recording the Italian versions of Everybody wants to be a cat and the character of Thomas O’Malley in the classic animated film, The Aristocats.
His successful career continued to grow with the albums If (2010), Sun (2013), Beyond (2015) with songs like Love is a temple, Best of Soul (2016) and Brasil released in 2018 with new songs that pay tribute to Biond’s cultural and musical world.
After making his debut at the Kennedy Centre in Washington DC in 2019 and travelling to La Havana for a special concert at the Teatro Marti, the Italian soul and jazz sensation is embarking on another tour of concerts to mark the release of his latest album, Crooning Undercover. This album was released in September 2023 and pays tribute to great names from music, such as Burt Bacharach, Bill Withers, Julie Andrews, King Pleasure, Freddy Cole and Al Jarreau.
