The American industrial metal band led by the iconic Marilyn Manson will be performing at the Vistalegre Arena Palace on 28 November as part of the second leg of its One Assassination Under God Tour, in which its latest album released in 2024 will be presented.
Marilyn Manson is an alternative industrial metal band that was founded in 1989 by the singer Marilyn Manson and guitarist Scott Putesky, initially under the name Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids. The American artist, Brian Hugh Warner, better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is the frontman and lead vocalist of the band whose name is a combination of the first name of the actress Marilyn Monroe and the surname of the criminal Charles Manson.
The band has been surrounded by controversy over the years for its strong opposition to religious organisations, with powerful lyrics related to sex, violence and drugs, as well as for its aesthetic transformations and elaborate staging.
Since it was founded, the group has released twelve studio albums and has sold over fifty million copies worldwide. Furthermore, it has been nominated for a Grammy on four occasions and was named ‘Best New Artist’ in 1996 by Rolling Stone magazine and is included in the “100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists” by the VH1 music channel.
Its best known songs include The Beautiful People, released in 1996 as part of the Antichrist Superstar album and Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), a cover version of the popular song by the British band, Eurythmics, which is a dark and sinister reinterpretation of this classic turned into a Gothic anthem.
The group released its twelfth studio album, One Assassination Under God - Chapter 1 in November 2024 on the Nuclear Blast Records label, which features the singles As Sick As the Secrets Within, Raise the Red Flag and Sacrilegious. This return of Marilyn Manson presents a rawer, more apocalyptic and cinematic atmosphere.
