The Italian singer and songwriter Alessandro Mahmoud will be in concert on 8 May at La Riviera after concluding his first hit international tour. This is a much awaited live performance as part of his European tour in which he will perform the songs from his latest album, Ghettolimpo (2021).
Born in Milan (Italy) in 1992 to an Italian mother and Egyptian father, Alessandro Mahmoud, better known as Mahmood, rose to fame in 2012 when he took part in the Transalpine version of the television show, The Factor X. He was not very successful on the programme, but was not put off, going on to sign up for a music school. In 2013, he released his first single, Fallin' Rain.
Mahmoud became a global phenomenon after his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019, when he came second with his song Soldi. His first album, Gioventù Bruciata (2019) became a gold disc with 21 million plays and 33 million views in just two months. Furthermore, the song Barrio, included on this album, went platinum.
In 2021, he released his second album Ghettolimpo, which includes the singles Rapide, Dorado, Inuyasha, Zero and Klan. On this album, the artist collaborated with artists like Woodkid, Elisa, DRD, Sfera Ebbasta or Feid.
So far, he has had a very short career but it has been extremely intense, in which he has earned the recognition and admiration of the international public, which has led him to win the San Remo Festival and come second representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv (Israel).
Furthermore, the young artist won the award for Best Italian Actor at the MTV European Music Awards and took part in the Eurovision Song Contest again in 2022 with Brividi, this time coming sixth.
