One of the great North American musicians in recent decades will be performing as part of the Nights at the Botanical Festival on 22 July in the Botanical Garden at the Complutense University (Alfonso XIII Royal Botanical Garden). In this recital, he will perform his greatest hits, as well as other more recent songs included on his latest album, My Favorite Dream (2024).
John Legend is an American singer, songwriter, pianist and actor who has won eleven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe and an Oscar. In 2007, he won the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame and in 2018, he achieved EGOT status for having won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, a recognition held by very few artists.
Throughout his career spanning more than two decades, the musician has become one of the leading figures of soul, R’n’B and gospel, without losing sight of hip hop. He started out by working with artists, such as Kanye West before releasing his debut album, Get Lifted (2004), which earned him several Grammy Awards.
Over the years, he has consolidated an elegant and emotional style and his best known albums include Once Again (2006) and Love in the Future (2013), which was boosted by the huge success of the song, All of Me. Songs like Ordinary People, Green Light and Glory stand out, having performed the latter alongside Common for the film Selma (2014), which won an Oscar for the Best Original Song.
