Ewa Juszkiewicz

As part of the exhibition programme devoted to the Blanca and Borja Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection, the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum will host a monograph devoted to the Polish artist, Ewa Juszkiewicz, from 26 May to 6 September 2026.

Ewa Juszkiewicz (1984, Gdansk, Poland) reinterprets the visual codes of traditional European portraits, questioning the way in which female beauty has been portrayed throughout the history of art. Through the use of deconstruction and transformation of the canonical image of women in traditional painting, Juszkiewicz recontextualises this genre from a contemporary perspective that opens up new and varied interpretations.

The artist's work stands out for using a combination of meticulous pictorial technique with provocative and subversive content, resulting in pieces that draw on the past and present themselves as transgressive.
