The Complutense University Botanical Garden (Alfonso XIII Royal Botanical Garden) will host a concert on 15 July featuring the world-renowned merengue star, Elvis Crespo. Winner of two Grammy Awards and considered to be one of the leaders of international merengue, he will perform his greatest hits, such as Suavemente as part of the Nights at the Botanical Festival.
Elvis Crespo is one of the most influential figures in Latin music, renowned worldwide since the release of his hit, Suavemente, in 1998, which marked the beginning of his solo career after being a member of the Manía group. Throughout his professional career, he has developed his own style, which combines merengue with other genres, such as salsa and bachata, influencing several generations of Latin artists. Having released twelve studio albums, he has won diverse awards, including a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Merengue Performance.
In 2025, he presented Poeta Herío, his latest album to date, which has a marked personal and emotional dimension. The album includes collaborations with artists like Arcángel, Víctor Manuelles, Ivy Queen, FARIANA, Toño Rosario and Jerry Rivera, extending his musical universe. His legacy has also been recognised by contemporary artists, such as Bad Bunny, who paid tribute to him in his song Neverita (2022).
