The flamenco dancer will be visiting the Teatro Fígaro from 3 to 6 September to perform his latest show in which he questions the codes on which his artistic universe is sustained. The codes of dance, song and guitar; those that are learned and are created instinctively. A dialogue between tradition and personal creation, in which each gesture, silence and glance form part of a unique language built over a lifetime devoted to flamenco.
Códigos is presented as a space in which tradition is transformed while remaining recognisable. Eduardo Guerrero reviews the boundaries of flamenco to discover new languages without moving away from its roots. This project came about as a result of deep respect for this art and the conviction that tradition remains alive when it is capable of evolving.
Creation enters into dialogue with the codes that have defined flamenco throughout the ages to see them from another perspective. Dance, song and guitar maintain their essence, while the stage is reinvented through a new space architecture.
The show develops through three colours that accompany its transformation. White represents origin, birth and the purity of the first impulse; grey represents the search, experience and meeting oneself; and black represents the end, which is understood as renewal, where every conclusion contains the seed of a new beginning.
Eduardo Guerrero is a choreographer and dancer who has worked with artists like Antonio Canales, Manolo Marín, Mario Maya or Chiqui de Jerez and has participated as a solo dancer in competitions such as the Viernes Flamencos of Jerez, the Jueves Flamencos of Cadiz and the Guggenheim Museum’s Stars Festival. He holds numerous awards, such as the First Prize in the 2nd Choreography Competition of Professional Dance Conservatories of Andalusia, the Desplante Award from the Cante de las Minas de la Unión International Festival 2013, the 16th Audience Award of the Festival of Jerez in 2017 or the Lorca Award for Male Performer Flamenco Dance 2022.
