Eduardo Chillida. Dreaming the Space

The Conde Duque Cultural Centre will host an extraordinary exhibition from 17 February to 21 June 2026, which will review Eduardo Chillida’s career to mark the centenary of the birth of the artist.

The Ibercaja Foundation will present this exhibition in collaboration with Madrid City Council, Chillida Leku and the Eduardo Chillida-Pilar Belzunce Foundation. Curated by Alicia Vallina, the exhibition offers a unique opportunity to admire the most important works of the artist’s career, considered to be one of the leading sculptors of the 20th century.

Visitors will be able to enjoy 102 works created by Eduardo Chillida, ranging from small and large-scale sculptures in different materials to graphic work, drawings and portraits.

Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastian, 1924 - 2002) was a sculptor and engraver from Gipuzkoa, known for his large format pieces in urban spaces or in nature. Throughout his career, he won many awards, such as the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts 1981, the Europäischer der Künste Award 1983, the Grand Prix des Arts et Letres of Paris 1984  and the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts 1987. He spent the latter part of his life finishing the Chillida Leku Museum at the Zabalaga farmhouse in Hernani.
