The distance between A and B is the same as between B and A

For exactly one year, from 8 June 2023 to 8 June 2024, the Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting an art exhibition which establishes a dialogue between the City of Madrid Contemporary Art Collection and the Mariano Yera Collection. The exhibition plays with the notion of distances between, for example, a public collection and a private collection, between different forms of collecting, between the idea of geometry and replication, etc.

Curated by Bea Espejo, a specialist in Spanish contemporary art and art criticism, the exhibition deals with the creative process, full of dilemmas and searches, where thought becomes idea, where ideas become images, and where images create a message. This intensely personal and universal moment, the very complex moment of free creation that separates you but also connects you with them.

This project addresses this whole universe in small gestures: easy laughter, clumsiness when walking, coexistence. It speaks of the small contradictions between the details that separate and unite us. How the story of a painting is told through time leaps, aesthetic connotations, internal dialogues, and the vagaries of chance.
