On 7 and 8 March, the company led by the dancer and choreographer, David Coria, will present a show inspired by the album Hodierno by David Lagos on 7 and 8 March at the Centro Danza Matadero - CDM - Nave 11, offering an extravagant flamenco fantasy with a critical and nostalgic outlook, which celebrates what makes us proud and questions what makes us uncomfortable.
This project by the name of ¡Fandango! Is presented to the public as a reflection on Spanish idiosyncracy, a combination of tradition and the avant-garde that encourages the exploration of more complex and controversial aspects of Spanish culture. From the construction of identity and historic memory to clichés that surround the image of Spain, such as joy, picaresque, sacrifice and deep family roots.
Born in Seville in 1983, David Coria is a flamenco dancer who studied at the Professional Dance Conservatory in the capital of Andalusia. He started his professional career in 1998 with the Andalusian Dance Company’s Flamenco Workshop and a year later, he worked with Antonio el Pipa, going on to enrol in the Aída Gómez Company.
