From 12 September, MAD (Madrid Digital Arts) Immersive Experiences Centre will host an immersive experience that takes visitors to the heart of Hellenistic Egypt to rediscover one of the most fascinating women in global history.
Following the international success of previous productions, such as Tutankhamun, The Last Days of Pompeii and the Legend of the Titanic, MAD has visited 12 countries on 4 continents and has been seen by more than 3 million spectators. This autumn it will host its most ambitious proposal to date, an exhibition set in the 1st century BC which explores the life of Cleopatra, the last great queen of Ancient Egypt through stage recreations, immersive projections, virtual reality and holographic technology, which will be used for the first time.
This new project is more than a mere exhibition. It is an original creation that showcases a multi-sensory journey through Ptolemaic Egypt and invites visitors to discover Cleopatra as a political strategist, divine figure and key woman in the history of power. The narrative also focuses on two other major figures in the life of Cleopatra, such as Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony.
The experience revolves around four unique moments: scenic recreations, with stage designs, replicas and authentic artefacts from the 1st century BC, accompanied by informative panels; 360° immersive projections, which tell the story from her coronation to her death, including her role as Isis incarnate, scientist, political ally and legendary figure; a journey through the metaverse to explore key sites, such as the Ptolemaic catacombs, the Siwa oasis, her private bedchamber and the military camp during the Battle of Accio; and a hologram experience to relive key moments of the Ptolemaic dynasty and represent Cleopatra as a child, queen, mother, lover and myth.
