Bunny. Talia Chetrit (PHotoESPAÑA 2026)

From 6 June to 30 August, the Lázaro Galdiano Museum will host the first solo institutional exhibition in Spain by the American photographer, Talia Chetrit. It is part of the programme of the PHotoESPAÑA 2026 Festival. The exhibition offers a journey through her intimate universe, where vulnerability and staging defy the limits of contemporary images. 

Under the title of Bunny, the exhibition brings together a selection of works that range between portraiture, tableaux and still lifes. The artist presents her own curatorial approach, in which past and present photographs enter into dialogue in a single visual sequence.

In her work, Chetrit explores her intimate sphere from a perspective that challenges photography from within Her images sometimes evoke classical painting, explore the human being through exhibitionism and vulnerability as staging elements.  Her subjects, namely family, friends or references to parenthood and eroticism, appear from multiple angles and distances, building an ambiguous and changing outlook.

The exhibition’s title, Bunny, sums up the nature of the series: raw, seductive and performative. The line between truth and fiction remains open, while photography is both the medium and the material object.  The photographs vary in scale and format, ranging from intimate black and white prints to large-format colour photographs, which highlight their physical presence and the spectator’s involvement.
