On 11 and 12 September, the Vistalegre Arena Palace will host the American musician, Billy Corgan, in concert with A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness. To mark its 30th anniversary, the leader of The Smashing Pumpkins will revisit one of the most influential albums in alternative rock, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), which defined an entire generation, in this double concert.
Billy Corgan, leader and main songwriter of the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, will be performing a live reinterpretation of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), one of the most influential albums in alternative rock. Originally released as a double album, it left its mark on an entire generation thanks to songs that became classics, such as 1979, Zero, Tonight, Tonight, Thirty-Three or Bullet with Butterfly Wings.
Considered a key figure in 1990s rock, Corgan has built a career marked by musical experimentation and an easily recognisable artistic identity within the alternative genre.
His work with The Smashing Pumpkins established the band as one of the most important groups of its era, influencing many generations.
A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness offers a new experience with the album through a production that combines rock, opera and a choir in a totally revamped audiovisual format. The new arrangements and orchestrations have been carried out by James Lowe alongside Billy Corgan himself and include major songs such as 1979 and Tonight, Tonight, taking the universe of the 1995 album to an unprecedented dimension.
