30th Lied Cycle - Florian Boesch

The new recital of the 30th Lied Cycle will be held on 13 May, featuring the Austrian baritone, Florian Boesch, and the Scottish pianist, Malcolm Martineau. In this recital, the musicians will perform Schwanengesang, D 957 by Franz Schubert.

Florian Boesch is a baritone born in Saarbrücken (Austria) in 1971, who started to learn music with his grandmother, the chamber singer, Ruthilde Boesch. Later, he studied song and oratory at the University of Music and Stage Arts in Vienna.

In 2002, he made his debut at the Schubertiade de Schwarzenberg Festival (Austria) and went on to perform at the Österreichische Kulturinstitut in New York and at the Styriarte Festival in Graz (Austria). He has also performed at the Zurich Opera, the Volksoper in Vienna, the Stuttgart State Opera or the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He has worked with Venezuela’s Simon Bolivar Symphonic Orchestra and the Luxembourg Philharmonic.

Malcolm Martineau is a pianist born in Edinburgh (United Kingdom) in 1960, who stands out for having accompanied soloists of the likes of Thomas Allen, Dame Janet Baker, Barbara Bonney, Susan Graham, Frederica von Stade, Sarah Walker or Ainhoa ​​Arteta in their concerts. He has also performed recitals for the BBC and was the Artistic Director of the 2011 Lieder Festival in Leeds (United Kingdom).
