In May 2023, the new Spanish branch of the international Opera Gallery, present in several countries around the world, opened in Madrid’s Barrio de Salamanca neighbourhood. Directed by Belén Herrera Ottino, this new venue brings prominent national and international artists to the city’s art scene.
The gallery, which was designed by Hernández Arquitectos, boasts 1,000 square metres in size and is spread over three floors. Its opening exhibition featured the work of great 20th-century painters, including Picasso, Chagall, Dubuffet, Leger and Soulages, along with contemporary artists such as Botero and Valdés.
Gilles Dyan is the founder and president of Opera Gallery, which was launched in 1994 with the opening of its first two spaces in Paris and Singapore. It works to showcase emerging international artists alongside great modern and contemporary creators. Today, Opera Gallery can be found in key art cities around the world such as New York, Miami, Bal Harbour, Aspen, London, Monaco, Geneva, Dubai, Beirut, Hong Kong and Seoul.
