Madrid City Council’s Lost Property Office is located close to Matadero Madrid and Madrid Río, alongside Plaza de Legazpi. The receipt and return of all of the city’s lost property, which is found in the street or on public transport handed in by individuals, taxi drivers, EMT, Metro de Madrid, AENA, RENFE and Correos is handled here.
As a general rule, anything lost on the metro, train or bus or at the airport is kept for a period of time at the lost property offices at the corresponding facilities in order to facilitate its recovery by owners. Once the stipulated time at each location has elapsed, property that has not been reclaimed is sent to this municipal office.
Madrid City Council’s Lost Property Office publishes a monthly list of the property deposited there in the previous month in Madrid City Council’s Official Gazette and on the Public Notice Board. This property will remain in the office for a period of two years from the date of publication.
If you find some lost property, take it to this office without the need for prior appointment but you must wait for the corresponding turn. However, if you have lost something in Madrid, you can consult the City Council Office on-line, on the office’s website; by telephone on 010 or 91 529 82 10; in person or via e-mail: objetosperdidos@madrid.es, including a description of the object along with the place and date it was lost.
Once the Lost Property Office confirms that the item is there, you can either go directly to the office itself or, preferably and to reduce waiting time, request an appointment through the website www.madrid.es/citaprevia, by calling 010 or on social media: Twitter:@Lineamadrid, Facebook Messenger: @Lineamadrid or the online chat on the City Council's official website.
