This sculpture promoted by Spanish booksellers to pay tribute to books and their creators is located on Paseo de Recoletos, outside the suburban train station and in front of the National Library. The sculpture was made in 1984 by the artist from Lugo, Manuel García Vázquez, and the architect, Joaquín Roldán Pascual.
The bronze sculpture recreates two children sitting on a monolithic granite pedestal in the shape of a broken prism, reading a book. On one side of them, the inscription reads “Spanish booksellers, the book and its creators”.
