Pedro Cera, one of the leading art galleries in Portugal, opened its Madrid branch in October 2023, coinciding with its 25th anniversary. The Portuguese gallery works with a long list of contemporary artists from Europe, the United States and Latin America, promoting their work and making innovative proposals.
Its Madrid branch is located in the neighbourhood of Chueca, on Calle Barceló. It is a very spacious gallery, similar to their premises on Rua do Patrocínio in Lisbon.
This opening is also an opportunity for many Portuguese and international artists to have a greater presence in the Spanish contemporary art market. At the same time, the cultural ties between Madrid and Lisbon are reinforced by the increased artistic exchange and interest in artists and the exhibitions laid on by the Madrid gallery.
The gallery represents a list of 22 international and intergenerational artists, including prominent figures such as Adam Pendleton, Ana Manso, Anna Hulačová, Antonio Ballester Moreno, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Bruno Pacheco, David Claerbout, Gil Heitor Cortesão, Mariele Neudecker, Miguel Branco, Oliver Laric, Paloma Varga Weisz and Tobias Rehberger. It also participates in prestigious fairs such as Art Basel and ARCOmadrid, among others.
