Clara del Rey Cultural Centre - ABC Museum

Since January 2023, the municipal centre has been located in this building in the Conde Duque neighbourhood, designed by José López Salaberry, which housed the first Mahou Beer factory and which since 2010 has been the headquarters of the ABC Museum, the institution with which it now shares its location. The centre thus joins the cultural offer of the area, with a full programme that includes exhibitions, workshops for all ages and various activities.

In addition, the Clara del Rey Cultural Centre also collaborates with the ABC Museum to produce joint projects that promote the dissemination of art and illustration, although both institutions are independent and each has its own programme.

The new Clara del Rey Cultural Centre - ABC Museum is spread over 3700 m2 and five floors, including one below ground level, housing different spaces for classrooms and workshops, a gym area, a multipurpose room, a large auditorium and a conference area. In addition, in one part of the building there is a space where artists, collectives and associations can develop their cultural proposals as a way to promote their projects.

As for the exterior, part of the original exposed brickwork is still standing, dating back to 1891, and subsequent improvements have included the incorporation of a modern building front that shares the entrance to the adjoining building. This layout not only reforms the space for its current purpose, but also integrates it with the surrounding historic buildings.
