Centro de Residencias Artísticas (Matadero)

Located in Nave 16 of Matadero Madrid, this is a space for artists, musicians, educators and cultural agents to come together, sharing their work, research and creation on a daily basis. The centre promotes multi-disciplinary production to explore current affairs and their challenges in all their facets, at a time when the boundaries between different disciplines are increasingly blurred.

Through residencies, creators can have access to a workspace, time and resources, disconnect from their daily routine and reflect on their practice. When working without pressure, artists embark on new research, experiment and take risks without fear of making mistakes.

The CRA is a spacious, open-plan facility, with personalised workstations for each resident and shared resources such as the auditorium, the black box, the editing suite, the office, and workshops for the hard graft, facilitating exchange in research. The idea is to create a community over time, also involving members of the CRA team itself, special guest mentors and various visiting professionals.

Over the year, the CRA puts on activities that are open to the general public in order to showcase and share the creations and research of the residents. These include Open Days held three times a year in March, June and November, moments of maximum visibility for the centre.
