This mansion was built over the 19th century building built for the Count of Mejorada, the brother of the Marquis of Portazgo, by the architect Joaquín Saldaña - very popular among the Madrid aristocracy in the late 19th and early 20th century. The main floor was designed as the residence for the owners and the top floors as large private residences.
Located in the Salamanca neighborhood, at the time known a Madrid’s ensanche (expansion district), the mansion shows strong French influences that were very popular in that period. The key elements of the building include slate-covered turrets and large arched windows decorated with festoons.
In 1977 it was restored by Alvear Criado and turned into bank offices. Currently it is the headquarters of the Bar Association.
