Palace of the Count of Gamazo

The palatial home owned by the Count of Gamazo, constructed by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco in 1888, is located on Calle Génova, Madrid, close to Plaza de Colón, Paseo de Recoletos, and the start of Paseo de la Castellana.

This building, which was designed in 1886, was constructed on the plot of land occupied previously by the gardens of the Salesas Reales convent, and it looks out onto Calle Génova, Calle del Marqués de la Ensenada, and Calle Orellana to the back. It stands out from its surroundings on account of the two colours of its walls: the grey of the stonework and the red of the exposed brickwork. It currently houses the headquarters of the mutual insurance company Previsión Sanitaria Nacional.
