Capilla y comedor del Ave María

The Ave Maria Chapel is part of the Trinity Convent. It is the only part that remains of this convent, which was founded in 1611 by King Phillip II.

It was reformed by Mariano Belmás in 1909 for the Ave María Congregation. This extension involved modifying the end of the chapel, the first gallery, and the creation of a new upper level, on top of the previous single floor. The former facade comprised the main doorway, two lateral bays, and a small bell wall. The current facade, on the other hand, has two floors and is crowned by a curved gable. With the exception of the doorway, the rest of the decoration was created during a subsequent extension.

The paintings that decorate its walls include a copy of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary healing the lepers, one of the most important works by Spanish Baroque painter Bartolomé Esteban Murillo.  

The Soup Kitchen, which celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2018, was founded in 1618 and it is the property of the Royal Congregation of Slaves of Dulce Nombre de María. It is run by the members of the Trinitarian Family. Its purpose has always been to help the needy.  Nowadays, it serves breakfasts and afternoon teas to more than one hundred people, as well as providing food for families in need.
