Parque Norte - Carmen Tagle (near the Cuatro Torres Business Area, in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo) is currently home to this large sculpture by Xu Hongfei, the first sculpture in Madrid by a Chinese artist, on loan to Madrid to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Dragon in 2024.
Kiss is cast in bronze and combines elements of Chinese and Western culture. Hongfei plays with volume and depth to create a piece in which a man is lifting up his beloved. The statue has been exhibited in more than 60 public places, art galleries and museums in 20 countries. In fact, Kiss was previously displayed in Madrid in 2020, in the Plaza de Cibeles, as part of a temporary exhibition along with other pieces from the Chinese artist’s Chubby women collection.
Xu Hongfei was born in the Canton Province and graduated from the School of Sculpture at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1990. He is president of the Guangzhou Sculpture Academy and director of the Chinese Association of Artists
