Chueca, next to the Gran Vía, is home to the first boutique in the centre of Madrid by the designer from Madrid, Juan Carlos Mesa, who has been working n the world of fashion since the 1990s. The designer has always been linked to the maestros of the sector, like Jesús del Pozo, with whom he worked in 1995 on his catwalk collections, or Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, for whom he worked as creative director.
Mesa has also worked for Ángel Schlesser, Cortefiel, Blanco, Harper’s Baazar, collaborating with companies like Induyco or Inditex, among others. Since 2017, he has run his own fashion house, Maison Mesa.
Mesa has not only designed fashion, but also accessories and other artistic and industrial products, such as glasses, shoes, scarves, handbags, piercings, snowboards, hats, jewellery, stage design, music, DJ sessions, casting, styling or the design of ballet, theatres, advertising, film, opera, exhibitions and installations. He has also worked as a teacher and has participated in conferences.
In the boutique in Calle Reina, all of the pieces from the designer’s commercial and accessory collections can be purchased without a prior appointment, while also offering a unique, new concept, ‘show-sewing’, as anyone visiting the boutique will be able to watch Mesa and his team at work in the same space, where he will also welcome made-to measure customers (with a prior appointment).
The boutique, which embraces tradition, crafts and innovation, will also be used for book launches, art exhibitions or even exclusive culinary experiences.
