You can buy a slice of the famous cake sold by the Lisbon pastry shop O Melhor Bolo de Chocolate do Mundo right here in Madrid’s Barrio de Salamanca neighbourhood, where customers can enjoy cakes made with French Valrhona chocolate, butter, margarine, sugar, powdered cacao and egg. No flour or fermented cacao is used.
The result is a cake which is smooth and crispy. Based on mousse and suspiro cream, it is available in two versions, one with 70% cacao and the other with 53%. As well as their famous chocolate cake, you can also buy other Portuguese and Brazilian pastries and confections at the bakery, such as pastéis de nata, tarte, Pão de Ló and pão de queijo mineiro.
It's a cosy space designed by Bruno and Jacobo Gavira, and they also serve great coffee. It has an outdoor terrace with views of El Retiro Park.
There is another branch in Madrid at No. 9 Calle de Cervantes, in the Barrio de las Letras neighbourhood.
