After the success of his first store in Bilbao, Basque artist Ignacio Goitia opened his second store in Madrid in the spring of 2024, in the heart of Plaza de Salesas. It sells various everyday objects that showcase the artist’s creativity, including scarves, shawls, chinaware, trays, cushions, lampshades, fans, umbrella stands, brooches, cufflinks, ties, graphic work...
With over 35 years’ experience behind him in the world of painting, and having had numerous exhibitions around the world (Rome, Paris, Miami, Lisbon, New York, Madrid, Bilbao, and Monterrey, among many others), Goitia decided to create his own spaces where, in addition to exhibiting his large-format paintings, he sells various objects and accessories for everyday use.
Since then, he has launched several lines of scarves and handkerchiefs inspired by his work, as well as chinaware and lampshades, which can only be found in his stores.
The walls of this Madrid store are decorated with some of the murals the artist designed for the staging of an exhibition at the National Library (Palabras de viajeros [Words of travellers]).
Goitia's work stands out for its baroque aesthetic, full of colour, classical architecture, characters in courtly attire, and the presence of giraffes... His artistic universe is now reflected in the items available for purchase in his store.
