The brand Felipe Varela started in 1994 and just four years later, this Spanish couturier, famous for being one of the favourites of the Queen of Spain, Letizia Ortiz, opened his only shop in Madrid on the exclusive calle Ortega y Gasset, surrounded by other icons of prêt à porter and haute couture.
The space, decorated in steel with black mirrors and preceded by an innovative shop window designed by Felipe Varela himself, is a temple devoted to the woman of our days, whom Varela dresses in an elegant, delicate and discreet manner. His collections have hints of influences by Thierry Mugler, with whom he learnt the trade for years. Having attended the prestigious school Esmod in Paris for design and pattern design, he has also worked with other designers such as Kenzo, Lanvin and Dior. His background results in unique proposals, garments with a fabulous cut, such as the two-piece suits and blazers, embellished with darts and pleats and often with a double lapel.
