This traditional store first opened its doors in 1867 at No. 6 Calle Postas, close to Puerta del Sol, under the name “Sobrinos de Pérez”, initially selling textiles with a special section dedicated to textiles for religious associations. It moved to its current premises in the 1980s and now sells all kinds of religious items.
Between the shop floor and the warehouse (covering a total of over 1000 m2), they stock a wide variety of items for members of the public.
Benito Pérez Galdós mentions this establishment by name in his novel Fortunata y Jacinta, and in 1971 a plaque was placed on the front of the building attesting to this fact.
El Ángel has moved with the times and now has an online store where you can browse and buy items from its electronic catalogue (including fabrics, images, ornaments, silverware, nativity scenes, stained glass, etc.).
