La Taberna del Chato is a personal project launched in 2012 in the Barrio de las Letras, on Calle de la Cruz, where it was first located. Having garnered great public acclaim and critical success in the press and several food blogs, it currently has premises in Chamberí and a private space in Calle de Huertas, where all kinds of events can be held.
La Taberna de Chamberí has a bar and dining area where you can enjoy affordable food without fanfare or artifice, to a soundtrack of hits from the 1980s. The menu features a variety of tapas served in short tumblers known as chatos (hence its name), along with small sandwiches and various dishes. Some are more traditional offerings like ham and eggs, croquettes, and squid; others, more gourmet, like their famous steak tartar. All this paired with a selection of Spanish wines served by the glass, as well as cocktails and sangria.
At lunch time it has a set menu and several menus for groups.
