Mercato Ballaró is the name of the oldest market in Palermo. Here you can eat Sicilian fresh market fare. The restaurant is set over two floors: on the first floor there is no menu, with the dishes of the day on a blackboard. On the upper floor is the more formal restaurant. At the bar on the first floor you can try delicious dishes such as the magnificent selection of cold cuts from Sicilian black pigs, la frittola, (traditional fried meat snack), etc. The restaurant on the upper floor serves traditional dishes such as octopus stew or caponata marinera (seafood antipasto).
