This historic restaurant and bar, originally founded in 1907 in the heart of the Barrio de las Letras neighbourhood, was frequented by bullfighters, flamenco artists, bohemians and aristocrats for nearly a century. The antique tiles that line the walls have seen the likes of flamenco singer Antonio Chacón, author Valle-Inclán, bullfighter Juan Belmonte, and the legendary actress Ava Gardner. Considered the "Sistine Chapel of Andalusian tiles" for its remarkable decoration, it reopened on 20 April 2026 after 21 years, recapturing its former traditions and lively ambiance through its combination of cuisine, live music and an extensive wine list.
Los Gabrieles has been fully renovated and restored, respecting its original architecture, artistry and heritage. The tiles have been restored to their former glory, and new contemporary works have been incorporated into the décor, complementing and enriching its original legacy.
The new venue has been divided into several spaces that revive its social and cultural roots. The restaurant-bar is once again looking to draw a cosmopolitan crowd, focusing on live music as a fundamental part of its proposal, and offering a culinary experience that respects tradition.
The menu has been devised by chef Ander Galdeano and is inspired by traditional dishes from Madrid and Andalusia. The wine list is supervised by Rebeca Bellido, offering a wide variety of national and international wines.
Different promoters are in charge of the live music offering, which will shape the atmosphere created on the different days of the week, recovering its traditional artistic spirit.
