This seafood restaurant first opened in 1961 as a small bar, but was remodelled in 1991 to its current layout. The lure of this restaurant is the quality of its products: 100% Galician fish, meat, and seafood, at a good price.
Decorated simply in the manner of a traditional Spanish bar or 'taberna', La Castañal has a small dining room, with a huge counter display of fish and seafood at the bar.
The menu includes dishes such as rice with lobster, pork shoulder with rapini, cod cheeks with clams, steak, turbot, or Galician style hake, as well as a wide variety of seafood and homemade desserts such as Tarta de Santiago almond cake, 'filloa', pancakes, and cheesecake.
