Located in the Plaza de la Ópera, opposite the Teatro Real and very close to the Royal Palace, this restaurant is a wonderful place to go for brunch, enjoy a wide array of traditional recipes, made using the finest ingredients, or just go for a drink, and enjoy every moment.
Every Saturday evening, the restaurant gets all dressed up in its finery for its ‘cenas cantadas’, literally meaning ‘sung dinners’. These are exceptionally refined dinner-shows at which opera singers perform the most beautiful and famous songs just metres from the diners, while an exquisite dinner with tasting menu is served. All in a very friendly, original and fun format, accompanied on the piano.
In addition, the Café de la Opera has an outdoor terrace in front of the Teatro Real, where you can enjoy a coffee, a light snack, lunch or dinner. It can be used throughout the year, since it has awnings to protect you from the sun in summer and heaters to keep you warm in winter. There is also a gastrobar, with picture windows and lots of natural light, where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, and there is a large bar area to enjoy tapas with the best draught beer and an extensive wine list.
