The neighbourhood of La Latina is home to this restaurant founded by Andrés Olivares, from Argentina, and Raquel Choya, from Valladolid, Spain, together with the Italian-Peruvian chef Domenico Ciccia and the bartender Renato Medina, from Lima. They opened their first restaurant in 2016 at No. 9 Calle Almendro, and thanks to its success, in 2022 they launched another larger restaurant, which also has a terrace and private lounge. It has an international menu that blends tradition and cutting-edge cuisine.
Puerta Cerrada can seat up to 81 people and is decorated in a wonderful Mediterranean style (white whitewashed walls, lots of plants and vegetation, jarapa rugs and jute carpets), where every single detail has been carefully curated, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
The restaurant is spread over two floors. The upper floor is spacious and bright, thanks to its large picture windows. It has 9 tables and two bar areas with several stools. On the ground floor there is another smaller room that can be hired out for private events. On the terrace at street level they have five tables with a full formal dining service.
The menu focuses on Spanish tapas, given the influx of tourists in the area, but always approached uniquely, merging local flavours with Peruvian and Argentine cuisine. They are particularly keen to cater to coeliac customers, offering gluten-free options for all their dishes and desserts.
There is also an extensive national and international wine list as well as cocktails and spirits.
