The festival of contemporary dance and live music celebrates a new edition on 16 and 17 October at Centro Danza Matadero (CDM). With choreographer and dancer Elías Aguirre as artistic director and Mayda Álvarez (SNEO Mestizaje) as executive director, this event invites choreographers, dancers, musicians and visual creators to make Matadero Madrid their home ground.
The title of the festival, Cuerpo Romo, alludes to the wear and tear endured by the body when it comes into contact with the ground, since dancing in the city shapes and moulds a very particular type of dancer who, accustomed to the hardness of the asphalt, becomes rounded like a stone. Malleability is a particular feature of contemporary dance, essential when working out on the streets, intervening in public spaces and challenging audiences.
The event, an initiative of the choreographer, dancer and multidisciplinary artist Elías Aguirre (creation and artistic direction). There will also be a series of parallel activities such as jam sessions contact, with live music, cinema, and workshops for all ages. Within the festival, you can see some of the best short pieces of modern Spanish dance.
