The British Indie rock band is coming to Madrid as part of the European leg of its latest tour in which it will present its most recent album, Never/Know, released in 2025. The band will be stopping off at La Riviera on 4 March 2026 to perform new songs, such as Never Know and Jeanie along with some of its greatest hits, such as Naive or Shine On.
The Kooks got together in 2004 in Brighton, England and the band’s line-up remained unchanged until 2008, when the bass player Maz Rafferty left and Peter Denton joined the band until his departure in January 2019. At the start of 2010, the departure of drummer Paul Garred was announced. The band is now made up of the leader, vocalist and guitarist, Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris on the guitar, keyboards, bass and chorus and Alexis Nuñez on the drums and percussion. They have additional members on tour and for recordings.
Considered to be a reference of international pop rock, The Kooks released its first album, Inside In / Inside Out in 2006. Winning four platinum discs, it soon became the album for a whole generation, thanks to hymns like Naive, She Moves in Her Own Way, Ooh La and You Don’t Love Me.
Following the success of its debut, the second album, Konk, was released in 2008 which was also a hit with the public and critics alike, with songs like Always Where I Need to Be, Do You Wanna and Shine On. They went on to release the albums, Junk of the Heart (2011), Listen (2015) and the remix album, Hello, what's your name? (2015) and Let's Go Sunshine (2018).
Throughout its career, the band has experimented with different genres, including rock, Britpop, pop, reggae and ska, and more recently, funk and hip-hop. Its songs have become extremely popular and have been heard in TV adverts and hit series, such as The O.C. and Gossip Girl.
In 2023, the group went on a special tour to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its first album Inside In / Inside Out, which was one of the most outstanding British Indie albums, selling more than 2 million copies worldwide. Now, they are back on stage to mark the release of Never/Know (2025) in which they will explore new influences while maintaining their sound but with a fresher and more modern approach.
