American climber and entrepreneur Chris Sharma set up this large climbing centre, located in the San Blas district. After opening a first venue in Barcelona in 2015, the Madrid venue, with about 4500 square metres of climbing walls, is the largest indoor climbing wall in Spain. It offers climbing classes for children from ages 4 and up, and for adults.
Sharma Climbing Madrid has a climbing wall up to 12 m with fall arrest systems (which allow novice climbers to practice with minimal risk and without the need for advanced equipment knowledge), but also an area so that more experienced climbers can practice with ropes and train to then be able to climb the boulder. It also has a Boulder area, which consists of walls up to 4 m high with a crash mat (about 60 cm thick) to cushion any falls, and a boulder competition wall similar to those used in the World Cup or the Olympic Games.
There is also a children's area, with a wall adapted to their needs, with smaller grips and less distance between them allowing them to climb according to their size. They run birthday parties, camps, days off school…
In addition, it has a gym with a fitness area, exercise bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, free weights, dumbbells, a callisthenics cage, and plenty of space to stretch and warm up before starting training; a functional room, equipped for yoga, although it can also be used for TRX classes, pilates, etc…; a children's area with a wall adapted to the needs of the littlest climbers; a shop with everything you need to climb; and a bar-restaurant, overlooking the climbing wall.
