Desert City is a biotechnological nursery specialised in zero-landscaping in which a large botanic garden of around 6000 m2 with over 400 species can be enjoyed as well as researching, breeding, exhibiting and raising awareness of cacti and other xerophyte plants, some of which are native to the Community of Madrid. The plants can also be purchased by the general public.
The garden merges the aesthetic elements of the natural landscapes of the planet’s arid and semi-arid areas, such as cactus, with native plants of the Mediterranean climate (lavender, rosemary, etc…).
It is divided into 5 areas: Arizona, where diverse cacti are planted, creating a harmonious area; Oasis, a palm tree forest with plenty of water, which fosters relaxation; Tabernas, a curious area of minimalistic landscaping that breaks away from the aesthetics of the rest of the garden; Toscana, a reinterpretation of the stately Italian garden, with species like the olive tree, pomegranate, myrtle or lavender mixed with others of Mexican origin, such as yuccas, sotols or agaves; and Guajira, where traditional garden plants are mixed with other xerophyte species and cacti from the Mediterranean.
Desert City also offers the possibility of designing and installing sustainable gardens for private individuals and for companies.
