This gallery specialising in contemporary art is located in the Chamberí neighbourhood and continues the work begun by Galería Nieves Fernández, which opened in Murcia in 1977. It is currently a dynamic space that seeks to offer a meeting point between creators and the public, and, in this sense, develops programmes that go beyond traditional gallery spaces.
Thus, among the activities it organises are talks, performances and, since the pandemic, INTERLUDE, a programme of short exhibitions for artists to present projects or pieces that require a different format of appreciation and that have not been exhibited before.
The gallery also promotes CAMPING, a non-profit project that offers the gallery space to creators from other artistic practices, especially performing arts, in order to encourage cross-disciplinary exchange. Seeking to be more open and participatory, the project enables cultural agents to freely develop and present their creations whilst being paid.
The gallery is a founding partner of the Noplace experimental cooperative platform, in conjunction with the Arroniz (Mexico), Nueveochenta (Colombia) and Michael Sturm (Germany) galleries, with projects in Mexico City, Lima, Berlin, Paris, Bogota and Vienna.
