Ibercaja Madrid corre por Madrid

On 21 September, the streets of Madrid will be turned into one giant athletics track thanks to the 17th edition of Madrid corre por Madrid. Paseo de la Castellana, Calle Alcala, and Gran Via are the three main roads along which runners will race at this sporting event, promoted by Madrid’s Regional Government and organised by the MAPOMA sports association, which aims to bring sport to the general public.  

The race will start at 9am and will follow a route starting in Plaza de Cuzco (Glorieta de Cuzco) and finishing at Paseo de Camoens. The route will be duly signposted by the event organisers, including markers of the different kilometre points along the way. It is a 10k race that will take runners along the city’s main roads, past emblematic places such as the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Plaza de Colon, Puerta de Alcala, the Cibeles Fountain, the Metropolis Building, Plaza de Callao, and Plaza de España. And the main roads will be Paseo de la Castellana, Calle Alcalá, and Gran Via.

Runners’ times will be registered using timing chips attached to their race bibs. Times will be recorded at the start of the race, at the 5K point, and at the finish line. All runners must go over the timing control mats for their times to be recorded. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest three runners among the men and the fastest three runners among the women.
