The National Drama Centre in collaboration with the Tolosa International Puppet Centre (Topic) presents the Titerescena initiative for yet another year. This series is held at the Teatro Valle-Inclán on various Saturdays and Sundays from 4 October 2025 to 14 June 2026 and it is devoted to the exhibition and performance of activities related to the world of puppets and marionettes.
In recent years, it has been possible to see more than 40 shows by a large number of specialised companies. Each show displays the wide variety of ways of understanding and expression through puppets, making use of diverse objects, such as string marionettes, glove puppets or everyday elements, at times accompanied by live music. The programme also includes puppet workshops and courses for professionals and children.
The 2025-2026 season features a selection of high quality shows, with the participation of international and Spanish companies. The programme kicks off in October with the performance of Dadá, a play written and directed by Jaume Policarpo that uses mime, bunraku and object theatre.
In November, Bobo by Periferia Teatro can be seen, written by María Socorro and Juan Manuel Quiñonero and directed by Juan Manuel Quiñonero. It is a table puppet show for audiences over the age of 3, focusing on the amusing adventures of a little penguin.
In December, it is the turn of Biblioteca de cuerdas y nudos (Library of Strings and Knots), directed, written and performed by José Antonio Portillo. It is an object and visual theatre installation performed by the Unnica Arts company, in which the spectators choose the objects they want to learn about and their stories will be revealed to them.
To kick off the year, Las Cotton can be seen in January. It is a tabletop puppet show written by Miren Larrea and directed by Iván Alonso, which won the Feten 2021 Award for Best Puppet Show, the Premi Drac d'Or for Best Set Design at Fira Titelles Lleida 2022 and was a finalist for the Max Award for Best Children's/Family Show in 2021.
February will see the arrival of the tabletop puppet show and live animation Tormenta (Storm) by José Puchades (Putxa), directed by Julieta Gascón and José Puchades (Putxa). This show won the award for best puppet show when it premièred in February 2025 at the Feten Fair in Gijón. In March, it is the turn of The Wizard of Oz, a tabletop puppet show directed by Pablo Vergne, inspired by L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Mi padre quemaba piedras (My Father Burnt Stones), written and directed by Jordi Palet I Puig, can be seen in April. It features tabletop puppets, shadow puppets and objects. May welcomes the performance of Variations, a string puppet show written, directed and performed by Remo Di Filippo and Rhoda López.
In June, the Titerescena programme draws to a close with Verne. Written and directed by Jesús Nieto, this multidisciplinary show combines visual theatre and objects and invites spectators to fly over the universe of the adventure novels created by Jules Verne.
