Established in 1956, this family-run bakery in the Barrio de Salamanca neighbourhood, founded by Josefa Ramos and Cayetano Forteza, both from Mallorca, bakes the best ensaimadas in Madrid. It is currently run by Josefa and Cayetano’s children, who continue to offer quality products made by hand using the best ingredients.
In addition to ensaimada pastries, Formentor also makes all kinds of cakes and desserts, as well as savoury products, such as empanadas and sandwiches. You can order on line and collect instore or choose home delivery.
In 2024, it also received the award for the Best traditional torrija in Madrid, presented by the Madrid Artisan Bakers Association (ASEMPAS) at the fourteenth edition of the International Bakery, Pastry, Ice Cream, Coffee and Machinery Exhibition.
Formentor also has another branch at No.62 Calle Santa Engracia.
