Here lies a fascinating world in which the fauna of the five continents can be seen without leaving the city. Elephants, gorillas, exotic and not-so-exotic birds, koalas, sharks, giraffes, kangaroos, bears, and animals found on a farm are all found here as well. All the animals of the world are in Madrid. To get to know them, you only need go to the Casa de Campo and enter one of the most important zoos in the world.
Madrid’s Zoo Aquarium leads the field when it comes to in situ and ex situ conservation programmes, also creating environments that replicate natural habitats as closely as possible. Each of the more than 500 species is carefully grouped by zoogeographical criteria, offering visitors the opportunity to see the animals as if they were in their own environment. With more than 3000 animals, the park is home an incredible array of species, from mammals and birds to exotic fish.
Here you can find emblematic and endangered species such as giant pandas, Iberian lynxes, koalas, red pandas, Asian rhinoceroses and gorillas. Visitors can also discover true treasures of the animal kingdom such as giant turtles, bald eagles and Saharan gazelles.
One of the most recent innovations is IrenIA, an interactive virtual assistant pioneering the use of artificial intelligence and synthetic biology. IrenIA, cloned from an animal caregiver, is designed to enhance visitor experiences by providing real-time information about species, assisting in planning visits and facilitating interaction with the park.
