Restaurant offering home-style cuisine, which opens its red wooden doors twice a day: at lunch and dinner. The menu has all the flavour of a traditional casserole, like mother used to make.
Francisca Gómez and Jacinto Pinto opened the restaurant and called it “Tienda de Vinos” (wine shop). They sold wine from Valdepeñas, made in wineskins. In the 30s, it was nicknamed “Taberna del Guitarrista”, because the tavern keeper and musician, Vicente Gómez, used to delight customers with his guitar. It was known as “El Comunista”, since it hosted gatherings of regulars from the neighbouring “Casa del Pueblo”, and also “Casa Ángel” named after the father of the current owner, also named Ángel, the fourth generation of Miguel’s family. Clients like the brothers Manuel and Antonio Machado, Azorín, Alberti and Jacinto Benavente are regulars at this tavern.
