The place where the legendary Juana La Loca once stood is now home to this restaurant founded by Uruguayan chef León Bonasso and Argentine chef Pablo Paternostro. After joining forces in Bardero in 2021, in the district of Arganzuela, now a culinary hotspot in the south of Madrid, at Alto Bardero they have set out to make food they like and enjoy. At the bar, you can order from a range of delicious tapas, and in the dining room itself they serve up larger dishes for you to share.
The premises have been fully refurbished and have plenty of light, neutral tones and wood. Inside, there are two distinct areas: by the entrance there are high tables and a long bar, with several countertop cases displaying the hot and cold tapas available, which change regularly. Further inside is the dining room, with low tables and benches. The menu combines the culinary heritage of the two chefs with a strong Mediterranean feel but focused on international cuisine without labels.
The wine list contains around twenty wines, almost all of them available by the glass, showcasing small producers, young projects and some Argentine and natural wines.
The bar area does not take bookings but the dining area does.
