33rd Lied Concert Series - Andreas Schager

The Lied Concert Series organised by the National Centre for Musical Diffusion (CNDM) will welcome the Austrian tenor,  Andreas Schager, for the first time in a performance on 26 October at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, in which he will be accompanied on stage by the pianist, Guillermo García Calvo.

The two musicians will make their debut in the Lied Concert Series performing one of the masterpieces of the repertoire: Die Schöne Müllerin, D 795, by Franz Schubert.

Composed in 1823 based on poems by Wilhelm Müller, this series of twenty songs follows the emotional journey of a young miller, from romantic excitement to disillusion, turning nature into a reflection of his moods. Considered to be one of the cornerstones of the Romantic Lied, Die Schöne Müllerin calls for harmony between singer and pianist, creating a narrative of great dramatic continuity in which the voice and the piano share expressive responsibility equally.
